عون أمام وفد أوروبي: عمل «اليونيفيل» الوضع الأمثل في المرحلة القادمة - أخبار السعودية

أكد الرئيس جوزيف عون لوفد من السفراء والقائمين بالأعمال أن استمرار عمل قوة الأمم المتحدة المؤقتة في لبنان (اليونيفيل) يمثل الوضع الأفضل في المرحلة القادمة.

وأشار عون، خلال اللقاء ، اليوم الجمعة، وفقاً لبيان الرئاسة اللبنانية، إلى أنه في حالة تعذر استمرار «اليونيفيل» فسيتعين إنشاء قوة بديلة.

وفيما يتعلق بزيارته لواشنطن، وصف الرئيس اللبناني اللقاء الذي عقده مع نظيره الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بأنه كان مثمراً، وأكد أن الوقت قد حان لإنهاء الحرب نهائياً، والتزام لبنان بمسار الإصلاحات رغم الحرب.

وتمنى الرئيس عون بعد تطبيق المرحلة الأولى من المناطق التجريبية أن يتم تحديد مناطق أخرى في وقت لاحق، تمهيداً لبسط سيادة الدولة على كامل الأراضي اللبنانية.

ونقل البيان عن سفيرة الاتحاد الأوروبي ساندرا دو وال قولها: إن لبنان «يقف عند مفترق طرق وبداية فصل جديد»، مشددة على دعم الاتحاد الأوروبي للبنان في مسار الأمن والاستقرار والإصلاح.

ولفتت سفيرة الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى أن لبنان لم يستفد حتى الآن من الكثير من أشكال الدعم، مثل دعم بنك الاستثمار الأوروبي، والدعم المتمثل في القروض الميسرة للغاية.

وشددت على أهمية الاتفاق مع صندوق النقد الدولي الذي من شأنه أن يفتح الباب أمام قدر كبير من الدعم المحتمل للبنان، معتبرة أن وجود قطاع مصرفي فاعل ومتوافق مع المعايير الدولية سيتيح للمستثمرين العودة إلى لبنان والشعور بالثقة بأن لديهم نظاماً مصرفياً مناسباً يدعم استثماراتهم.

President Joseph Aoun confirmed to a delegation of ambassadors and chargé d’affaires that the continued operation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) represents the best situation in the upcoming phase.

Aoun indicated during the meeting today, Friday, according to a statement from the Lebanese presidency, that if it becomes impossible for “UNIFIL” to continue, an alternative force will need to be established.

Regarding his visit to Washington, the Lebanese president described the meeting he held with his American counterpart, President Donald Trump, as fruitful, and emphasized that the time has come to end the war definitively, while Lebanon remains committed to the path of reforms despite the war.

The president expressed his hope that after the implementation of the first phase of the pilot areas, other areas would be identified later, paving the way for the state to assert its sovereignty over all Lebanese territory.

The statement quoted the European Union Ambassador Sandra Duval as saying that Lebanon “stands at a crossroads and the beginning of a new chapter,” emphasizing the EU’s support for Lebanon in the path of security, stability, and reform.

The EU ambassador pointed out that Lebanon has not yet benefited from many forms of support, such as support from the European Investment Bank and support in the form of highly concessional loans.

She emphasized the importance of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, which would open the door to a significant amount of potential support for Lebanon, considering that having an active banking sector that complies with international standards would allow investors to return to Lebanon and feel confident that they have a suitable banking system that supports their investments.
